Who we are
RKC Consultancy Ltd (company no. 6617083, registered in England & Wales) operates Vekkle. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Contact: support@vekkle.com.
What we collect and why
- Account data — when you sign in with Google or an email link we store your email address and a user ID. Until you sign in, the app uses an anonymous device account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Photos you submit — images of vehicles, tyres, damage, parts or diecast models are sent to our servers and to our AI provider solely to produce the identification or assessment you requested. We do not keep the full-resolution photos on our servers; small thumbnails of items you choose to save are stored in your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Vehicle registration numbers you enter, and the vehicle data returned for them (MOT and mileage history, tax status, insurance write-off markers). Reports you run are saved to your account so you can view them again. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Your saved content — Garage/collection items, notes, wishlist entries, badges and activity counts.
- Usage and security data — request counters (for fair-use limits), and signals from Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise / Firebase App Check used to block abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Payment data — subscriptions and one-off purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we store only your entitlement status and Stripe customer reference. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Where your data comes from and goes
To provide the service we exchange data with these processors and sources:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud — hosting, sign-in, database and security. Your data is stored in the London (europe-west2) region.
- OpenAI — photos and related text you submit are processed to generate identifications and assessments.
- DVSA / DVLA (via licensed feeds) — MOT history, mileage and tax status for registrations you look up.
- Experian (via One Auto API) — insurance write-off and condition data. Where shown, this data is supplied by Experian.
- eBay — live price searches (we send search terms, never your personal data). Outbound eBay links are affiliate links: we may earn a commission from the eBay Partner Network if you buy after clicking one, at no cost to you.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Microsoft 365 — sending service emails from vekkle.com addresses.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page — this permanently removes your account, Garage, saved reports, usage records and entitlements from our systems, and cancels any active subscription. Server-side caches of vehicle data (which contain no personal data) expire automatically.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict and erase your personal data, and to object to processing. Email support@vekkle.com and we'll act promptly. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Cookies and local storage
We use essential browser storage only: sign-in state, your preferences (such as region), and locally saved app data. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. To understand how the apps are used we record basic product events (for example "a scan ran" or "a check was purchased") in our own systems — these never include vehicle registrations, photos or free-text, are not shared with any third party, and are deleted automatically after 180 days. Our apps are protected by reCAPTCHA Enterprise and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be flagged in the app.
